The National Rural Press Club was pleased to host it’s first event since Canberra emerged from lockdown.
On Thursday 8 October following the Federal Budget, newly-elected President Lucy Barbour moderated a lively debate between Minister for Agriculture, Drought & Emergency Management, David Littleproud and shadow agriculture spokesperson Joel Fitzgibbon. The event was hosted at the National Press Club.
Members of the press asked questions on topics including the nation’s response to COVID-19, ongoing tensions with China, agriculture’s worker shortage and the farm sector’s support for a net carbon zero 2050 target.
Both Minister Littleproud and Mr Fitzgibbon agreed to take part in a post-Budget debate in 2021.
The Club thanks our sponsors Westpac, Animal Medicines Australia, Case IH, Croplife and Graincorp for their ongoing support.
Special mention to National Press Club, President Sabra Lane and CEO Maurice Reilly for hosting.
